I have a holiday home in Le Marche and write this blog to share my love of the region, encourage visitors and help you get the most out of your stay. I see myself as a “critical friend” of Italy, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love the place! I have been visiting regularly since 1993 and regard the region as my second home.

I am so impressed that you blog in both English and Italian! I’m trying to learn at least a little Italian myself for an upcoming trip to Italy and it’s harder than I was expecting. Hopefully reading your blog will help me improve!

Hi! Don’t worry about being criticcal of Italy – I think most people who live here are, including the Italians. It doesn’t mean we don’t love the country or enjoy what it has to offer. I live in Abruzzo – have you ever been here?

  4. Hi – I was so pleased to find your blog. We have family who live in the Marche (near to Sarnano), and as a public librarian I’ve always been fascinated to find out more about local towns/villages and which ones have libraries so I can visit and make some comparisons. Your blog is fantastically helpful and it’s so great to know there are fellow librarians in the region 🙂

    • Thank you for your comment . The public libraries of Le Marche are a an unappreciated treasure trove and have been under-exploited as a tourist attraction. So glad another librarian appreciates them. Have you seen my other blog -https://beautifulbooksinitaly.wordpress.com/.

  5. Thanks, I will phone before I go. In my family we now use the word “chiuso” to mean “closed when you would have thought it would be open”.

Being critical of Italy is good and Italians are the first critics of Italy 😉

I will love to read about your pov on Italy, it’s always interesting to me to see my country through the eyes of people coming from abroad 🙂
