About

I have a holiday home in Le Marche and write this blog to share my love of the region, encourage visitors and help you get the most out of your stay. I see myself as a “critical friend” of Italy, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love the place! I have been visiting regularly since 1993 and regard the region as my second home.

I am so impressed that you blog in both English and Italian! I’m trying to learn at least a little Italian myself for an upcoming trip to Italy and it’s harder than I was expecting. Hopefully reading your blog will help me improve!

Hi! Don’t worry about being criticcal of Italy – I think most people who live here are, including the Italians. It doesn’t mean we don’t love the country or enjoy what it has to offer. I live in Abruzzo – have you ever been here?

  4. Hi – I was so pleased to find your blog. We have family who live in the Marche (near to Sarnano), and as a public librarian I’ve always been fascinated to find out more about local towns/villages and which ones have libraries so I can visit and make some comparisons. Your blog is fantastically helpful and it’s so great to know there are fellow librarians in the region🙂

  5. Thanks, I will phone before I go. In my family we now use the word “chiuso” to mean “closed when you would have thought it would be open”.

    Buonasera.
